Francis, Founder of Genuine Private Trading (GPT)
Introduction
Private trading collectives are gaining popularity as investors seek more transparency and control over their decisions. Unlike public funds or signal services, a genuine private collective operates within a trusted network — but not all groups are equal. This guide helps you evaluate any private trading collective, including what to look for and what to avoid.
Public Funds vs Private Collectives
Public funds are regulated, pooled investments managed by licensed professionals. Private collectives are invitation-only networks where members share a common strategy and make their own trades. GPT is the latter: we are not registered with the FMA, do not manage your money, and do not provide financial advice. Members retain full control of their accounts and decisions.
- Public funds: regulated, pooled, professional management.
- Private collectives: invitation-only, self-directed trades, shared strategy feed.
- GPT: weekly Capsule of 5 USA shares, performance-based service fee, private WhatsApp group.
7 Key Questions to Ask
Before joining any private trading group, ask these questions:
- Is the group truly private and invitation-only?
- Is the strategy consistent week to week, or does it change constantly?
- How are fees structured — flat, performance-based, or hidden?
- Are performance claims verifiable or only marketing?
- What disclaimers and risk disclosures are provided?
- What happens in down markets?
- Is there a clear exit process if it is not a fit?
How Genuine Private Trading Works
GPT operates a disciplined weekly Capsule system: each week we identify 5 USA shares. Members buy one share of each stock, hold for 5 trading sessions, then sell and move to the next Capsule. We charge a monthly membership plan fee (administration) and a performance-based service fee of approximately 5.75% of monthly profits including GST. No profit means no performance fee.
